First Round Pick Is Coming To Alaska
The Anchorage Glacier Pilots got some good news Monday afternoon when general manager Jon Dyson announced that Keenyn Walker, 1^st round pick of the Chicago White Sox, decided to come to Alaska to play the summer with the Glacier Pilots.
Walker was selected 47^th in the first round in the supplemental draft in early June.  He will bring big numbers with him from Central Arizona College where he led the team to the National Junior College Tournament.
His 2011 Central Arizona stats are .402 average, 50 RBIs and 65 stolen bases.
Walker told Dyson that he decided not to sign at this time with the White Sox and wanted to come north and be in the Tuesday night lineup against the Mat-Su Miners.
Walker still has until August 15 to sign with the White Sox.
Dyson said, "We feel privileged that Walker, who has been one of our top prospects since early on, is coming north as he is one of the most talented players recruited in many years.  He will add a lot of spark to the ball club."
